(BANT) – Coast Guard crews and the California Fish and Wildlife teams are on the scene of a 112-foot freight barge that capsized and sunk south of the Bay Bridge Friday.

The vessel was reportedly leaking fuel and oil. Coast Guard say they’re dealing a potential release of about 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 300 gallons of hydraulic lube oil.

The Coast Guard is enforcing a safety zone in the area. No shoreline or wildlife impact has been reported.

The owners of the sunken barge have contracted a salvage company to deal with the sunken ship and assess the environmental impact.
