(BANT) – Police in South San Francisco say two women are under arrest for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon after they tried to ram a teenager who was riding a bicycle then stole his bike.

It happened Saturday evening around 6 p.m. Investigators say the 17-year-old boy was riding his bike on the first block of South Spruce Avenue when a vehicle twice tried to ram the boy off his bike, police said.

The driver, 20-year-old Serena Greene of Daly City, confronted the boy and demanded the bike, which he handed over. A passenger in the vehicle, 20-year-old Makayla Vanpelt of Menlo Park, also threatened the victim. The two women then fled the scene with the bike.

Officers located Greene and Vanpelt a short distance away in their vehicle. Both were arrested on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats, and were taken to the San Mateo County Jail, police said.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the South San Francisco Police Department at (650) 877-8900.
