(BANT) – Three moderately powerful earthquakes, all within about an hour of each other, rocked a remote area of Nevada near the California border overnight.

The US Geological survey says the three quakes hit southwest of Hawthorne, Nevada, about 70 miles away from South Lake Tahoe. The first, a 5.7-magnitude temblor, struck at exactly midnight. The second, also 5.7, came 18 minutes later. The third quake, a slightly less powerful 5.5-magnitude, struck at 1:13 a.m.

The quakes were felt across both states, from Carson City to Yosemite. There were no reports of any injuries or damage.
