(BayAreaNewsTalk.com) – Petaluma police are searching for a man who carjacked a vehicle near an elementary school early this morning.

A woman was sitting in her gold 1997 Toyota Avalon at McKinley Elementary School on Ellis Street around 5 a.m. when a black man between 30 and 40 years old demanded the keys to her car, police said.

The suspect fled in the Toyota with a black front bumper and California license plate 6GON161, police said.

Anyone who sees the stolen vehicle is asked to call Petaluma police at (707) 778-4372.
