(BANT) – Seven Sonoma County school districts have canceled classes for Monday because of the storm that hit the San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay areas, causing road floodings and prompting evacuations from near rivers in the area.

Officials with the Sonoma County Office of Education made the decision around 9:45 p.m. last night saying the following school districts will be closed today: Alexander Valley Union, Cloverdale Unified, Geyserville Unified, Guerneville, Forestville Union, Harmony Union and Monte Rio Union.

The North Bay has been hit hard by the storm, with nearly 4,000 people having lost power as of last night. PG&E officials say the number of customers without power totaled 3,976 in the North Bay.

Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters were helping people get to higher ground last night after Sonoma County officials advised residents and visitors in the low-lying areas along the Russian River at Monte Rio and Guerneville to evacuate as they expected the river to reach flood stage and over flow its banks.
