One Person Injured in Shooting on I-880, Lanes Reopen
(BayAreaNewsTalk.com) – One person was injured in a shooting on southbound Interstate Highway 880 in San Leandro early this morning, prompting the closure of the highway for several hours, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers got a call at about 2:30 a.m. about a road rage incident on southbound Highway 880 near Lewelling Boulevard, then shortly afterward received another call about shots being fired, CHP Officer Joseph Fowler said.
Officers responded and found a vehicle on the highway with four people inside, one of whom had been shot. The person was taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries, Fowler said.
The investigation into the shooting prompted the closure of all lanes of southbound Highway 880. The lanes eventually reopened shortly before 9 a.m., according to the CHP.
No information about a suspect or suspects in the shooting was immediately released by the CHP.
