(BayAreaNewsTalk.com) – San Jose police confirmed this morning that two off-duty Oakland firefighters were shot, including one who suffered fatal injuries, in the South Bay city’s Japantown neighborhood last night.

San Jose Police Department spokesman Albert Morales said today that the police department stands strongly behind the victims, who were shot in the 300 block of East Taylor Street on Thursday night.

Police received the call reporting the shooting at 9:37 p.m. and arrived on the scene to find two men with life-threatening gunshot wounds.

One of the victims was pronounced deceased at the hospital, and the other victim was listed in stable condition Thursday night, police said.
