(BANT) – Napa Police say a teenage boy is recovering after being stabbed in the chest on a basketball at Valley Oak High School Tuesday afternoon.

Napa police Sgt. Ryan Cole said the stabbing was reported at 4:46 p.m. on the campus at 1600 Myrtle Ave.

Officers found the boy with one stab wound in his chest. He was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.

Police detained two other teen boys at the scene and interviewed them at the police station. It’s not clear what their involvement is and neither boy was arrested.

Cole didn’t know if the teen who was stabbed was a student, as sometimes students from other schools come around to play basketball after school.

The high school had finished the school day at about 3 p.m.
