(BANT) – Police in San Jose have released video of a suspect who they say staged an accident with a disabled man who has trouble speaking, then stole his cell phone at gun point and knocked him to the ground.

It happened back on September 5th on Tuers Rd north of Apollo Dr. where the adult male victim was walking early that evening. The video shows the suspect, who was on a mountain bike, ride up from behind and knock the victim to the ground.

The suspect then circles back around and helps the victim to his feet as though it was an accident. As the victim gets back on his feet, he pulls out his cell phone as he is only able to communicate through text. The suspect then takes the phone out of the victim’s hand and puts it in his pocket.

The victim struggles with the suspect trying to get the phone back but the suspect pulls out a gun and kicks the suspect, knocking him to the ground. The suspect then gets on his bike and rides away south on Tuers Rd.

The suspect is described as a black male, somewhere between 16-25 years old, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark beanie cap, dark shirt, grey sweatpants and dark colored shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call SJPD. You can see the video here:
