(by Alex Kekauoha) – Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire early this morning at a church in Vallejo, according to a fire spokesman.

The fire was reported at 2:50 a.m. at Church of the Living God at 710 state Highway 29, also called Sonoma Boulevard.

According to Kevin Brown, an engineer with the Vallejo Fire Department, the blaze started in a storage unit attached to and outside of the church. The fire then spread to part of the main building.

No one was inside the church when the fire broke out and there were no reports of injuries, Brown said.

At 3:30 a.m., firefighters contained the blaze. Once it was extinguished, crews remained on the scene to conduct overhaul operations.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Brown said.
