(BANT) – A detective is expected to recover after being injured last night during the arrest of two men believed to be behind several burglaries in the Mountain View area.

Mountain View police say detectives were parked at the In-N-Out on Rengstorff Avenue around 8:30 p.m. while following up on reports of increased car burglaries in the area. They saw two men pull up in a white Mercedes Benz with paper plates. One of them got out and begin shining a flashlight into other cars.

As the detectives approached the men, the driver tried to leave the parking lot but ended up smashing into the driver side door of one the detective’s cars, setting off the air bags. The detective suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

Both men were taken into custody. Stolen property, mainly laptops and cell phones, was found in their car. Their identities have not yet been released.
