A Caltrans work crew that was trimming foliage along state Highway 37 in unincorporated Solano County on Monday discovered the body of a motorcyclist who apparently ran off the highway west of Skaggs Island Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The work crew was clearing tall bushes, reeds and shrubbery around 12:20 p.m. west of Vallejo when it found a 2005 Harley-Davidson submerged in water and the rider’s partially submerged body, CHP officials said.

The Solano County coroner’s office identified the crash victim as Dailey Sparks, 51, of Vallejo. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

CHP officials said they have not determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. The CHP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call (707) 428-2100 of (800) TELL-CHP.
