(BayAreaNewsTalk.com) – A carpool program has expanded again as it became available at
BART’s Orinda and Rockridge stations Monday, according to the transit agency.

The Scoop app allows carpool drivers to get guaranteed parking at
BART stations and is already operating at the Concord, Dublin/Pleasanton,
Pleasant Hill, Millbrae and San Bruno stations.

BART officials aim to expand BART’s parking capacity with the
program to make it easier for commuters to park at BART stations.

Most of the 48,000 parking spots at BART stations fill up by 8
a.m. on weekdays and 95 percent of the spots are taken by solo drivers,
according to BART officials.

Carpoolers can participate in the program through the Scoop app at
takescoop.com.

Morning rides must be scheduled by 9 p.m. the night before, and by
3:30 p.m. on the same day for evening rides.

Scoop notifies riders if they match one of the app’s more than
65,000 users.

BART officials said users planning to park at either the Orinda or
Rockridge stations can receive a $5 credit by using the promotional code
BARTLOVE05.

Contra Costa County residents using the Orinda station are also
eligible for discounts through a partnership between 511 Contra Costa, the
Contra Costa Transportation Authority and Scoop.

Officials with BART, Scoop and the Metropolitan Transportation
Commission plan to expand the program to other BART stations later this year
and in 2018.

Additional information about the carpool program can be found at
Ridshare.511.org or www.bart.gov/carpool.
