(BANT) – Police have arrested a 15-year-old El Cerrito boy on suspicion of killing a woman at a park in Richmond back in May.

On May 18 at around 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alert at Booker T. Anderson Jr. Park at 960 S. 47th St. While officers were on their way, staff at a local hospital called to report that a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound had been dropped off.

Officers learned that the victim had been at the park, where she was involved in an argument with at least one male. The argument escalated and the victim, identified as 20-year-old Alexandrea Sweitzer of Discovery Bay, was shot. She died of her injuries that night.

After weeks of investigation, police identified a suspect and issued an arrest warrant. At around 6 p.m. Monday, police apprehended the juvenile suspect in Richmond on suspicion of killing Sweitzer. His identity is not being released because of his age.
